Navigating Divorce Together
A Clear-Headed Guide for
One of Life's Hardest Chapters
Certified divorce coaching for people who want a warm, unbiased guide in their corner — not another opinion in the chorus.
Going through a divorce, you're surrounded by opinions — from family, friends, maybe even your own attorney. Everyone means well. But most of the people around you are, understandably, on your side, which means a lot of what you're hearing is really your own fears and assumptions echoed back at you.
I'm Lisa Sundquist, a Certified Divorce Coach® and I'm here to be something different: a steady, knowledgeable guide who helps you find direction, think clearly, and feel supported — at the same time.
As a Certified Divorce Coach®, my job isn't to tell you which way to go. It's to navigate this with you — helping you find clarity, build confidence, and make decisions with real discernment, so that whatever comes next, you're moving toward something, not just away from what's behind you.
Guidance
Through Transition
COMPASS DIVORCE COACHING
WHY DIVORCE COACHING
Which best describes you?
I'm finally divorced and I don't know what to do next. How do I handle all the issues in my agreement/court order?
So the gavel has come down on your final divorce and now your new life begins! There are still lots of transitions ahead as one household becomes two, you begin your new parenting plan and figure out all the other aspects of your agreement and court order. Coaching is an ideal place to focus-forward on your future and asset you through this time of transition.
I'm in the midst of my divorce and my Ex is driving me crazy! How do I handle it when I'm triggered?
No one can make good decisions and show up as their best self when they are emotionally triggered and overwhelmed. Coaching can help identify your triggers and create a plan for how to manage those big emotions that will inevitably show up.
I've been doing ok - but now I have to go to mediation/deposition/court and I feel unprepared. What is that experience like? How do I prepare?
Most people only divorce once and they are really unfamiliar with the process, so of course it's daunting! If you're headed into mediation, court or other legal process, coaching can help you prepare for that event and strategize so that you are comfortable and well-prepared.
I'm already in the divorce process but I'm overwhelmed. What should my priorities be?
So divorce has been filed and now you're faced with a ton of paperwork, an unfamiliar process and confusion about timeline and priorities. Coaching can help you make sense of the next steps and help you stay on task with paperwork and other preparations.
I'm ready to get divorced - but how do I figure out what I want in the divorce?
No matter which divorce process you choose, the professionals involved will be asking you what you want from this divorce. How do you figure that out? Divorce Coaching is a safe place to make a plan for your assets, parenting plan and life after divorce so you are more productive and clear in your legal meetings.
I'm ready to divorce but where do I begin?
When divorcing there are lots of processes to choose from. Divorce Coaching can help you understand the legal process, identify your goals and find the appropriate professionals to meet your goals. Coaches can also refer you to the appropriate professionals to get you started. Your legal professionals will help you navigate the legal process - Divorce Coaching will help you navigate yourself!
I'm thinking about divorce but haven't told anyone yet - is divorce right for me?
Divorce Coaching is not "pro divorce" - we are pro helping you! Divorce Coaching can help through the discernment process by addressing your fears and concerns, and explore some initial questions. Divorce Coaching can help you make a decision, and if you decide to divorce, set you on your path.

THE PROCESS
Divorce Coaching is:
Engaged, not entertaining. This isn't a pep talk. It's real, focused conversation about your real life.
Authentic and accessible. No jargon, no performance — just honest, human conversation, meeting you exactly where you are today.
Collaborative, not directive. You're the expert on your own life. I bring structure, knowledge, and direction; you bring the decisions.
Nonjudgmental, always. Whatever your situation looks like — however messy, undecided, or complicated — there's no judgment here. Only support.
Unbiased, on purpose. I'm not your friend, your sister, or your attorney. I don't have a stake in the outcome — which means I can help you see the whole map, not just the parts that confirm what you already believe.
Future-focused. We don't just process what happened. We chart a course toward what's next.
Celebrated, every step. Progress in a divorce is often quiet — a hard conversation you finally had, a decision you finally made, a boundary you finally held. Those moments deserve to be marked, not glossed over. When you do the work, I'm in your corner cheering it — genuinely, and because you earned it.

YOUR COACH:
FINDING THE "BETTER WAY" AND FILLING THE GAP
I have been divorced and know what a stressful process it can be. After staying home with my children for 20 years, I decided to channel some of my knowledge and desire to help into the next stage of my life. I went back to school in my 40's and got a paralegal degree - even earning the Valedictorian award for my hard work. I then began working in a family law litigation practice, watching families cycle in and out of court. While I loved the helping work I was doing, what surprised me most was how dissatisfied these clients were after spending significant time and money on the litigation process. They often didn't feel heard, did not get the outcome they hoped for and spent significant funds to do so. The churn often continued as they repeatedly returned to court hoping for clarity and resolution. Even at that time I thought there has to be a "better way."
Fortunately during that time I was exposed to mediation and quickly saw how it could be a "better way." In 2014 I completed my basic mediation training, as well as parenting plan and marital property training (and have gone on to advanced mediation, guardianship, and CINA training). In 2015 Creekside Mediation was born and I began assisting people in a whole new way. I quickly discovered that mediation was indeed a "better way" to assist families going through transition.
Mediation allows families to make their own decisions, take into account their personal values and needs, and address the goals of the new family unit in transition. It still remains the cheapest, fastest and most self-directed process for divorce. However, even in this process my clients asked me many questions that I could not address in my role as mediator and once again I sought to fill the gap.
In 2026 I became a Certified Divorce Coach® and finally feel like my tool box is complete! As a divorce coach I can work with clients one on one and form the relationships that will lead to more clarity, confidence and purpose in the divorce process. As a coach, I'm the missing link in divorce - not replacing the other professionals, but making sure you show up as your best self, prepared with right resources, knowledge and decisions to make your time with each professional as efficient as possible. Divorce Coaching is also forward - focused, so we're not just focusing on the process of divorce, but we're envisioning and planning for life after divorce. The role of a divorce coach can be limited to one or two issues - like discernment prior to divorce, or parenting plan creation - or can be ongoing through the whole arc of divorce.

Divorce coaching is a 1:1 coaching experience where you and your coach are talking partners in order to move you successfully through the divorce process. It is a forward-focused process that addresses your biggest concerns no matter where you are in the process: discernment, understanding the process, filing for divorce, choosing professionals, preparing paperwork, setting goals, emotional regulation and post-divorce transitions. You can use coaching for some or all of your divorce.
Divorce Coaching does not replace your attorney or any of the other professionals on your team. Coaching does not provide legal advice, but can offer legal information to better prepare you to interact with the other professionals on your team. Your coach can also refer you to professionals you may need.
Your coach at Compass Divorce Coaching is a paralegal, mediator and Certified Divorce Coach® making her uniquely qualified and familiar with all aspects of the family law system. Her toolbox is full of training, experience and resources to help you create the life you desire after divorce.
You do not need an attorney to start Divorce Coaching and we will work together to decide which professionals are a best fit for your team.
Regardless of the professionals on your team, they will all be pleased that you are showing up to your interactions with them focused and prepared. As a mediator I can always tell who has worked with a coach prior to mediation -because they are fully present, thoughtfully prepared and emotionally steady.
No. Divorce Coaching can be started anywhere in the process. I will meet you wherever you are in the process - from just thinking about divorce to transitions after divorce and everything in between.
At Compass Divorce Coaching all coaching between the client and coach is 1:1. You get individualized attention in each session. If you need other professionals on your team, your coach can refer you to the right specialist.
All Divorce Coaching is done virtually via Zoom.
Yes. Divorce Coaching does not replace your other support systems. We are not therapists and fill the unique role of guiding you through divorce with special expertise.
The length of your coaching session will vary depending on which coaching package you choose - but each session is at least one hour long and may include check-ins between sessions. When you have your Discovery Session call we will determine what frequency and coaching model is the best fit for your situation and goals.
There is no limit to how long you can work with a Divorce Coach. My hope for Compass Divorce Coaching is to be a support through the whole arc of divorce - but I will help and support you wherever you are in the process. We will constantly reevaluate goals and process to custom-tailor your coaching needs.
The best coaching clients show up with a good-faith attitude and an open mind. You don't need anything special to get stared - but you might want a pen and paper to take notes.
The cost of Divorce Coaching varies depending on the package you choose to fit your needs. Check out the Coaching Services section for more details and we will discuss which package is the best fit for you during your Discovery Call.
